I'm running a program that creates a database in the default instance of
SQL2K. For speed, I have separate drives for OS, SWAP, APPS, SQL, and LOGS.
I installed the SQL program to the APPS drive, with the databases being
installed on the SQL drive. When I installed my program, I installed it to
the APPS drive, and it created its database, and log file, in the default
instance's database folder on the SQL drive.
I ran the program once, to get things setup, then, used SQL Enterprise
Manager to detach the database, and I copied the log over to the LOGS drive,
then reattached the database, and, repointed the database to its log's new
location.
Everything seems to work right, so, I assume I did that OK.
My question is on all the other log files for the default databases--should
I do the same procedure to all of them, and move ALL log files to the
separate drive?
NOT a SQL expert, and, not really sure what all the other databases are used
for...
Thanks!
