Why would you need to restore only system tables?

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=264474 describes the dependency of system
*databases* on the *SQL build* number. Although definitely not recommended,
I believe it is possible to restore the backup of a system database taken on
Std. Edition, on to an Enterprise Edition. But I still do not understand
your question on system *tables*. Could you elaborate?
