I have an installation of SQL 2k on a WinXP Professional machine. Lately the MMC snap-in has become corrupt and I need to reinstall the client tools. But when I try to run the installation it tells me there is already a client tools installation on my machine and I should run the maintenance mode. In the Add/Remove Programs, the only options I have for SQL Server 2000 is to completely remove it. I tried to remove it so I could just reinstall the client tools, but the remove installation failed halfway through. When I tried to remove it again, it said it could not find the file to remove the installation.

Does anyone know the command line script to start the installation in mainenance mode, or maybe the correct registry keys that needs to be removed so a new installation can be ran? It seems Roger D has had a similar problem with his installation but no one has responded to his post. If someone could help us with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

sstewart
