Actually that's the scary part. I created a testDB and test plans to
replicate what we were doing to Prod and the same situation appeared. I tried
doing it on another SQL box thinking that it was me or something I was doing
and again same situation.
the only thing I could see related to the two machines was the windows
update was forced by policy.

are running the latest service pack (tested of course). You may need to drop
and recreate the plan altogether if it doesn't save it by just editing it.
