Unfortunately Query Analyzer isn't fully Unicode compliant. I work
with about a dozen different languages and it fails on many Unicode
characters. The same is true of Internet Explorer, so this may simply
be a Microsoft issue. However, the database still stores the
characters correctly, which you can check with the unicode() function.
If you aren't using Unicode then anything is possible.
