thanks guys - i'm slowly getting a clearer picture of the memory
layout. so, one question left (and recommendations):
1. has anyone seen the performance monitor buffer manager:procedure
cache counter give incorrect results? i'm showing a number larger than
is physically possible on our production box.
2. any recommendations on articles or books on the topic of sql server
memory management and configuration. i've read _microsoft sql server
2000 performance optimization and tuning handbook_, but it turns out
that it's pretty high level.
