protocol error in TDS Stream

Hello,

I am using sql server 2000 over at client's place and they have not applied
any service packs to their sql server that I can see, it is version 8.00.194
(RTM) and I am getting the following error in my asp.net application that is
using OLEDB to connect to the database. I was wondering what is the cause of
this error and how can I fix it. Will upgrading to the lastest service pack
for Sql Server 2000 fix this error, and yes I know that they should upgrade
to lastest service pack anyway, and I can recommend that provided the
upgrade will fix that error.

Any help would be appreciated. thanks.
