Yeah me too. Actually this was the first time I tried 3a. Won't do that
again that's for sure.
I have SP3. So this time I reinstalled SQL 2000. Then I changed my Temp
variables to 8.3 file names. Then cleaned out Temp dirs. Then I installed
SP1. Then cleaned out Temp dirs. Then SP2. Then cleaned out Temp dir.
Then SP3. So all better now.
When I went from SQL 2000 no service pack to SP3a I had 11 sql scripts which
needed to Run. I believe I failed at 8. When I did it the above way I had
only 7 sql scripts which needed to run.

I installed SQL 2000. Then I installed the Service Pack 3a. Then I failed I think it was 8 in the install scripts. That was then end of it. This in Windows 2000 Advance Server SP3. So I uninstalled SQL 2000 and re-installed SQL 2000. Now I am back at no Service Pack I believe. I went in the Enterprise Manager and I see this in the SQL Server Logs: > > > > Configuration option 'show advanced options' changed from 0 to 1.
