You know, I really hate when stupid oxymoronic catch phrases are used with such persistence. What in the world do you mean by "Unstructured Data?" There is NO SUCH THING. If it is data of any value whatsoever, IT MUST HAVE STRUCTURE!
If this is the case, yes, SQL Server could provide the same benefits that any other DBMS product could: Integrity, Performance, Consistency, etc.
If this is not the case, why would you care if you stored it at all?
