Yes, just the msdb database. Other databases are fine. Would this mean OS
or hardware problems are most unlikely?

That's what I suspected. But I'm not able to find more evidences to confirm
that. Have you ever seen or known that any inappropriate database operations
could cause such kind of recurring inconsistency errors? As far as I know,
our SQL 2000 server is not heavily loaded. 826433 PRB has too much
information for me to understand right away. The article mentions 'disabling
read cache'. If that could help solve the I/O problem, would that cause any
negative impact on the SQL server?
