Hi,
I am experiencing a performance problem on a SQL Server 2000 SP3 installation.
Whenever the Ghost Cleanup background process runs, the performance degrades to a halt.
The Ghost Cleanup process can last up to an hour and during that time no transaction is possible, in fact I cannot even open a connection through enterprize manager. Let me note that I do not have the auto shrink option enabled.
Why doesn't the Ghost Cleanup process fire when the server is idle (e.g. during the night)? Is there any way to control it's behaviour?
Thanks in advance.
