I think you mean *edition* rather than version. The feature differences
between Standard and Enterprise editions are documented in the link below. I
suggest you use Developer Edition for development since the cost is very
minimal and it supports all the Enterprise features. MSDE isn't ideal for
development use because it lacks the management tools such as Query Analyzer
and Enterprise Manager.
MSDE is limited to databases upto 2GB but other than that all editions use
the same database format so data can be moved easily between them.
