Paul,
Thank you for your reply. I tried your suggestion, and I was able to
create the proxy and run the agent through that proxy. However, the agent is
still not creating the snapshot (which was the reason why we wanted to
change the Windows user).
So I decided to disable the publisher to start from scratch. But it
gives me an error when I try to do it; it says:
"invalid object name 'dbo.sysmergesubscriptions."'
Something went obviously wrong with our setup. Is there a way to clean
all replication objects manually so that I can start from scratch?
I am using SQL Server 2005.
Thank you,
Maer

I'm wondering if the password of the account you are logged in as has
changed? Can you "Manage" the local computer and browse to active
directory
and other windows logins?
If all this looks ok, then you could attempt to get some more info and
perhaps narrow it down by using "create credential" and "sp_add_proxy" and
"sp_grant_proxy_to_subsystem" separately.
