I'd try
(a) connecting to Server2 using QA and see if you can connect that way.
(b) check that your alias uses TCP/IP and not named pipes.
(c) check that @@servername returns the correct netbiosname on the
subscriber
(d) check ports through the firewall : *ANY* -> 1433 , 1433 -> *ANY*
