It is impossible for someone who does not understand even the foundations of
the subject to know if something is "just theory" or not. The problem is
quite a few who writes a couple of DDLs these days promote themselves are
data design gurus and start dumping down sound design principles and
relevant literature as "just theory", which is sad.

Fortunately in this case, relational theory is not about our views, it is
one proven approach of applying science and logic to data management;
whether we understand it sufficiently enough not to call it "just theory" is
another matter.
