Hi Kevin,
Your other post was monitored by Microsoft. However based on Microsoft MSDN
managed newsgroup support policy and the time difference, our initial
response is guareented within 24 hours. Appreciate your understanding on
this. You may also want to know some information of our MSDN Managed
Newsgroup Support services at here:

px
Regarding the time hang issue, I need to collect more information from you
for further response:
1. How long can you finishing process your cube in Business Intelligence
Development Studio without using msmdpump.dll?
3 minutes
If there are huge data and many dimensions in your cube, a long time
processing is normally required.
2. Are there any error information in your event logs?
none
3. What is the result if you process a small cube like AdventureWorksDW?
same - as soon as i click the "OK" button to begin processing the window locks up indefinitely (24hrs +) until SSMS is forced quit.
4. Could you please run Process Monitor to monitor your SSMS process
(sqlwb.exe) and mail me (changliw_at_microsoft_dot_com) the trace log?
Since the log may be large, you may also mail me an email response, after
that I can create a workspace for your uploading the files. You can
download the process monitor from this link:
Process Monitor v1.32
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
I sent the trace file. When I attempt to process the cube through the msmdpump.dll there is nothing written I submit the process request via the msmdpump.dll. However when i process through the normal connection method (without using msmdpump) there is much written in the trace. I'll email that to you now.
This last time I ran the process via msmdpump.dll I used fiddler http debugging proxy to see what traffic is being sent. The last message sent from the SSMS client to the msmdpump.dll was :
<Envelope xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<Header>
<XA:Session soap:mustUnderstand="1" SessionId="5E311A2C-C3FF-41B7-9C34-935592E8F900" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:XA="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-analysis" />
</Header>
<Body>
<Execute xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-analysis">
<Command>
<Subscribe xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine" />
</Command>

<LocaleIdentifier>1033</LocaleIdentifier>
<ClientProcessID>5340</ClientProcessID>
</PropertyList>
</Properties>
</Execute>
</Body>
</Envelope>
To which the msmdpump.dll never returns a response.
Thanks!
Kevin
