MSAS/SQL Server 2K on VMWare
Greetings,
My company has decided to put our environment of MSAS/SQL Server 2K on
VMWare. One application in particular which has been in production for a
number years recently has been having a habit of running much longer than
expected(SQL cpu ~ 100%)...until I eventully kill it. The application used
to take 12 minutes to pull the data and process a cube. I'll see behaviour
where it will process 2 or 3 times sucessfully in a row, and then it run for
hours, until I eventually cancel the job. We have 2 servers. One for MSAS
and the other for SQL. Could VMWare be causing these issues? How can I best
to determine the root cause? Our VMWare administrator tells me that I'm
getting pretty much all of the CPU & memory that is available, but I'm
wondering what else could be impeding the job.
Any ideas would be most appreciated
Thanks
John
