does the problem appends with only 1 server?
or does your station cannot access all AS2005 servers?
when you try to change the AS config, do you do this on the server himself
(using terminal server or directly on the server)?
on the server himself, do you have any other issue?

It is all running on/against the same box (and the same is happening on
multiple computers) - I simply cannot connect to the local AS. I did a
complete "clean" install (OS, patches, frameworks 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0, Office
and SQL Server) on one test box and it works on that one. The problem is
that
some of the other boxes are development machines with lots of other
software
installed a complete reinstall of everything is not really an option.
Thanks.

do you have any firewall between the computers?
are you in the same domain?

I cannot connect to Analysis Services on a local box running XP with
P2 -
it fails with the following error:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running.
(Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient)

forcibly closed by the remote host. (System)

And when I try to change the setup using the Surface Area Configuration
tool
it won't let me do it with the following error:
TITLE: Surface Area Configuration

To configure Analysis Service remote connections, you must be an
administrator for the Analysis Services Windows service. (SQLSAC)
To the best of my knowledge the service is running under my user name
and
I
am part of the local Admin group. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Jiri
P.S. Everything works fine on another box (Win 2003 Server) using a
Standard
Edition but I would like to have it working on this one for
development.
