Suddenly this morning my DTS package to process a database
failed. Others worked. It has been working all week. (We
did have the iSeries data warehouse offline over the prior
weekend). When I went to process the database manually it
stopped on the same cube as the DTS package failure.
The error message was that there was a key "0" of the
private dimension that was not in the fact table. (Which
usually means the opposite.)
The datasource is an IBM iSeries and the other cubes
connected to it processed. I did a
query on the fact table which is actually a SQL view and
found no 0's in the dimension column.
I did a browse on the fact table and could see the data.
When this kind of thing has happened before it has been
with iSeries(AS400) logicals, not SQL views and when
browsing the fact table you will get only the first row
of data returned.
I quickly build a new logical and replaced the fact table
with the new fact table and the cube processed.
So, I solved the symptom, but I'm looking for clues to
the underlying cause. There were no SQL Server outages,
no logging errors in the Analysis Server and no error
messages on the iSeries.
