I'm trying to link Excel to an Access query where the Access query is linked
to an external database through a SQL ODBC connection.

The query will run perfectly in Access but when run indirectly through
Excel( by using import external data) Microsoft Query returns an odbc
connection failure.

The connection it fails on isn't the Excel-Access connection but the
Access-SQL connection.
