I am developing an application that needs to have
reference to a SQL Server Text data type. I know how to
use the TEXTPTR() and DATALENGTH() functions but do not
know how to store the data returned from the READTEXT into
a variable that can be manipulated, printed, sent to
    another table, etc.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.
