Hi Arnie and June,
Thank you very much for the tips and infos. I'm in the process of testing
out several scenarios on my virtual lab just to understand better their
coexistence.
Cheers.
June.

When you install SQL Server, it will find the MSDE installation and ask you
if you want to 'upgrade'. If you respond 'NO' (which you should), you will
then be asked for a 'name' for the SQL Server 'instance'.
Assuming your computer name is 'MyComputer', the MSDE will be 'MyComputer'
and the SQL Server will be 'MyComputer\Name' -using whatever name you gave
it.
You may need to adjust the memory allocations, or even add memory to the
server. But first get a handle on the type of use, and if there are any
issues with the 'plain vanilla' setup.

Hi all,
I'm just curious, can MSDE and SQL Server exist together on the same box?
I'm using MSDE now and want to add a SQL Server onto that same box. MSDE
db
is in use.
Many thanks,
Cheers.
