Re: Error when Installing SQL Server Express 2005

Hi Ben,

Got some news but maybe not positive.

Product Team confirmed that The version of ShapeStudio that is currently
available on the web does not work with SQL 2005. This issue will be fixed
in next version of the Visio 2007 SDK. Users of the Visio 2003 SDK must use
SQL 2000 or MSDE.

Thanks.

Hi,

Trying to install SQL Server Express 2005 DB for doing shapes
development,
however when I try the install, I get the following error message:

"This machine does not currently have SQL Server 2000 or compatible
technologies (MSDE) installed."

I notice there are a few posts with the same error, (i.e.
http://tinyurl.com/ld9bc) but the last reply was from Mark Nelson [MS]
with
the message:

"It is still under investigation. There are several things around the
SDK
and ShapeStudio that are being explored, so I'm not sure we will have
an
answer right away. "

That was on February 16th, has the investigation gotten any further?

We're running Windows XP SP2, with Visio 2003, Win2003 domain
environment.

Cheers

Ben
