Hi,

Trying to install SQL Server Express 2005 DB for doing shapes
development,
however when I try the install, I get the following error message:

"This machine does not currently have SQL Server 2000 or compatible
technologies (MSDE) installed."

I notice there are a few posts with the same error, (i.e.
http://tinyurl.com/ld9bc) but the last reply was from Mark Nelson [MS]
with
the message:

"It is still under investigation. There are several things around the
SDK
and ShapeStudio that are being explored, so I'm not sure we will have an
answer right away. "

That was on February 16th, has the investigation gotten any further?

We're running Windows XP SP2, with Visio 2003, Win2003 domain environment.
