What you need is often different from what you actually use :-)
I think many applications will be fine running Firebird, as many are just
fine running MySQL or MSDE.
For my work, I use Firebird often, for one of our products, we use Firebird
"embedded" as the storage engine. Runs fine.
Is it gonna "replace" MSDE? Doubt it. Will they compete for the same
market? Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't.
