I don't feel qualified to address your networking and connectivity
issues, but I do feel qualified to recommend that you NOT use Access
as a design tool for a SQL Server database. Instead, use the client
tools (Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer). Access does not have the
required functionality to create a robust and secure SQL Server
database. You also won't have to troubleshoot all the flaky things it
does and doesn't do.
