SPECS: XP Pro SP1, .NET 1.1, MSDE, IIS
I have MSDE installed and appears to be running with the little icon running
down in the taskbar. The little green arrow blinks every so often. If I
open it up it says:
Server: Desktop
Services: SQL Server
Auto-start is checked
Running - \\DESKTOP - MSSQLServer
The problem I'm having is that I don't know what to use to create a new
Database and manage it. I have downloaded the Web Data Administrator but
when I run that it gives me a small applet with the choices of IIS, Cassini
and restore defaults. When I check IIS and the click Start it takes me to a
web page full of HTML code.
The first few lines of this are as follows:
<%@ Page language="c#" Codebehind="Default.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false"
Inherits="SqlWebAdmin.Login" %>
<%@ Register TagPrefix="Toolbar" TagName="HelpLogout"
Src="Toolbars/HelpLogoutToolbar.ascx" %>
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" >
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<title>Web Data Administrator - Login</title>
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico">
<link rel="style***" type="text/css" href="admin.css">
I'm assuming this is to be a front-end of sorts but it's in html so it's
useless. Should I be using the Web Data Administrator or something I see
mentioned in the forum called Enterprise Manager? If so please offer a hint
on where to find it as I can't.
Thanks for the help in advance. This is driving me nuts and I have to get
it running now no matter what. It's become a battle of wills.
Thanks,
Bob
