FULL TEXT INDEXING is grayed out- Is it OS prob?

My Operatiog System (OS) is Windows XP Professional 2002, when i'm
trying to install the Server Components for the FULL TEXT INDEXING
using the SQL Server Standard Edition CD, prior to the installation it
is giving a message saying "Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition
server component is not supported on this operating system. only client
components will be available for instatllation"
and when i proceed further the "Upgrade, remove or add components to
the SQL Server is grayed out" where as my friend having the same OS and
same SQL Server Edition can add the Service "Microsoft Search Service"
and "Full Text Indexing".
I tried many options but nothing is working out?
what am I suppose to do now ?
can anybody help please?
Thanks in Advance
