I have IIS running on a Windows 2003 Server (comp1) and SQL Server Running on an XP machine (comp2).

I'm trying to access the index server on comp1 from comp2, using the well known servername.indexname..Scope() technique within my SQL statement. I do have the running index set up on comp1 and the "dummy" linked server set up on comp2. I actually had this all working for a bit... Then it stopped working, and I'm not sure what I changed.

I now get the oh-so-helpful error message: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server][OLE/DB provider returned message: Unspecified error]

I *suspect* it has something to do with security. Here is what I've done in the name of security.
1. On comp1 (2003/IIS), I set up a trust to/from comp2 (XP/SQL Server). I don't know how to set up a reciprocal trust on comp2 -- Is that possible on XP?
2. Made comp2 a member of the comp1 domain.
3. Tried to set the log on account for SQL Server to an account on comp1 (the domain controller), but kept getting a user/password not found error. It wouldn't let me browse the comp1 users, by the way.

Anybody have any thoughts? I've been beating my head on this for days. This is a tough one! I thank you VERY MUCH in advance...

Brandon
