Deployment of custom assembly referenced in script components.

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,

My SSIS solution includes a custom .Net assembly that I reference from
script components within my packages. I deploy multiple instances of the
solution to a single server (SQL Server cluster) and would find the
flexibility of being able to deploy new versions of the assembly on an
instance by instance basis really valuable.

The current deployment process involves copying the assembly to the
following directories on both nodes of the SQL Server cluster.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn

At which point, they are visible to all instances of my solution.

My ideal solution would be to have each instance reference the copy of the
assembly that is located within the same folder as the packages (these are
deployed on the file system).

I found a reference on the net to the 'ReferencePath' attribute within the
dstx file and experimented (appended the package path to the value of this
attribute) without success. Has anyone managed to get this working?

Are there any other strategies that I should be considering?

Many thanks,

Scott
