Hello Gerald & thanks for your reply.
Have I understood you right if I say you have managed to install a 32-bit Oracle client and a 32-bit Microsoft OLE DB driver for Oracle on 64-bit Windows 2003 Server?
Did you have to uninstall the 64-bit to get it to work, did you use WOW, please tell me more!
in my current project I work on a server with 64-bit Windows 2003
Standard installed. The installation was made by the IT department
of our customer.
After that I have installed 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Standard (with
all components) and the 32-bit Oracle client (Oracle Database 10g
Client (10.2.0.1.0)).
I have never installed any Microsoft OLE DB drivers for Oracle,
but these have been present in the data sources even before I
have installed the Oracle client. But using them without Oracle
client resulted in a message like "please install Oracle client
first".
I have never used any special tricks, just started the default
setup procedure. The only problem is that you have to patch the
Oracle drivers because the have problems with the "(x86)" in the
path where 32-bit software resides.
I got the tips in my first post from a workmate who had the same
troubles three months ago.
HTH,
Gerald
