When you originally did your export using DTS did the defaults come across? My guess is not. A BACKUP/RESTORE will take everything across so I do not think it is here that things are getting lost.

I backup my database daily from the operational server to a local server
using DTS to import from SQL Server to SQL Server (and then Backup
Database
to make a .bak file of the imported database).
When I had to restore the database recently using the reverse procedure
all
the default settings in the table fields were lost when the tables were
exported to the operational server.
Any help much appreciated.
