jeje, nice ending.
I read that someone changed "(local)" for "localhost" and it started
working. And it had been working for some time with "(local)"
I'm having a similar problem, i get the dbnetdll error when i use a dts
that connects to another server, but only when i run it through
xp_cmdshell or with de sp_OA procedures.
When i run it manually (in the server or on a client it works just
fine)
may be this link can help you if the problem comes again

I still can't figure out what was my problem because i can't change any
server configurations, but someday i'll find out what happend...
cheers

And it finally comes down to fixing the problem in the classic Microsoft
fashion:
Reboot the box.
