Best Practice Shared connections

background: Informatical will allow you to set up connections once,
then multiple jobs use them. Great for development, because you can
change from dev to prod server in one place for as many jobs as you
want.
How can we achieve this in SSIS?
Currently we have 3 projects with shared data sources in each (total of
4 ds). What would be the best way to make ALL the packages use the
same DS? We've discussed using a paramater table, using xml files, but
nothing seems clear cut.
Any suggestions?
