Hi Pedro and Charles,
I have been working with Microsoft for a long time on this error and we are
still looking into it. We have checked IIS, Reporting services and Analysis
services logs, buttons, squiggly things, Kerberos, the domain controller,
dev boxes and production machines, configuration settings, everything, and
all the nuts and bolts. It has become apparent that this is an OLE DB error
with the provider, but I cannot confirm entirely so don't quote me on that
one. I think that this investigation is nearly over. I will post once I
hear more.
Regards,
Nick.

I finally gave up doing this on my own and over various free microsoft
routes, then decided to set up a Service request for this issue. I am
communicating with the technician at Microsoft at the moment. We have
tried
adding to the connection string in the report property, SSPI=NTLM (This is
supposed to resolve any Kerberos issues). The Reporting server and the
analysis services server are on the same box in production, but not in
development, so we can also add the Data Source=localhost to the
connection
string, but this did not resolve the issue although when it did run it
seemed to pick up some performance, but the error is still there however.
The technician is looking at the profiler traces for when the report fails
and I am waiting to hear back from him. Will post if we find an answer.
Nick.

Hi,
i'm facing the same problem as described in this discussion.
I have created an excel which connects to the analysis services(SQL
server 2005).
Now that i wanted to copy the excel file to another computer on the
same network domain i get the same error you did. - Excel 2007-- "The
following system error occurred: ."
Even if i try to create an empty excel file, in another computer,
then add new connection to the SASS on my computer..following the
steps on the wizard I get the very same error.
I have tried every step in this discussion. If you do find a solution
please let me know.
Thank you
