How many statistics / data mining Ph.D.s, professors or book authors
living in US are born Americans? Less than 25%, most likely. The fact
that 80% of the remaining 75% spell it UK-style does not mean that's
the right spelling, in American English.
All major statistical software packages spell this as "discriminant
analysis":
