Robert
Thanks so much for your reply.
That is exactly what I am doing.
I tried your method of using the specific user login option and created an
account "dbadmin" on the target SQl server. I even made another account just
for the specifc database I want to manage and now when I test the connection
(via a the test.udl) I get the error: "Login failed for user 'dbadmin'. The
user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection."
I also tried to make an SQL account on the DELL8300\SQLServer that pointed
to the client DeLL4600c machine: "DELL4600c\dbadmin" . But when I use the
"Select User or Group" dialogc box and click on "Locations" in only see the
DELL8300 machine and when I type in the fully qualified name I get a message
of bad characters (back slash I m guessing), though file sharing wise they
both computers see each other fine on the WorkGroup LAN.
How can I get the DELL8300\SQLServer see the DELL4300C as a "SQL Server
connection" or create an account as you described?

Morris,.
Are you trying to connect to the DELL8300's sql server using windows
authentication, while being logged on a DELL4600C machine with windows
administrator account ?
If that is your case, you cannot connect to a sql server machine from a
different computer using windows authentication in a workgroup environment.
( Account's SID numbers are different on different computers ). Use
standard logins instead of windows integrated or use domain accounts (join
the computers in a Windows AD Domain if one exists)

I have two machines in a workgroup. Both XP Pro. On \\DELL8300 is
SQLExpress
2005 the other \\DELL4600C has SQL 2005 w/SQL Management Studio.
When I try to Connect w/SQL Management Studio I can Browse in the
Connection
window and see the DELL8300\SQLEXPRESS listed. When I select that machine
I
get Error: 18456 - login failed for user DEll8300\Guest
I am logged in with an administrator account.
How did Guest get used?
