Found the answer on

The solution was:
Configuration Manager -> Protocols for SQLEXPRESS -> left-click for
properties on TCP/IP -> on the "IP Adresses" tab clearing "TCP Dynamic
Ports" and setting "TCP port" to 1433.
This was a long journey for something that should be fairly simple.
