RE: cannot log into Reporting Services from SMSS

Hello Ed,

To understand the issue better, I'd like to know the following informaiton:

1. What's the result if you connect to http://servername/reportserver and
http://servername/report? If you encounter errors, please let me know the
exact error message.

2. Please collect the report services log under

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.x\Reporting Services\LogFiles

You could send them to me and remove "online" from my displayed email
address.

3. Did you try to Reporting services configuration from startup menu->All
Programs->SQL Server 2005->Configuration tools?

Please check if the IIS is properly configured in the machine. Is there a
web.config in c:\inetpub\wwwroot? There shouldn't be one. If there is one,
please temporarily move the file to another folder and run RS configuration
tool to see if it helps.

If you have other related information, please feel free to let's know.
Thank you.

Best Regards,

Peter Yang

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) at
