RE: Will I be able to connect?

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Scott,
I understand that you would like to know if you can use trusted connection
in your VB.NET application after you detach/attach your SQL Server 2005
database file from one server to another server with SQL Server 2005
Express Edition.
If I have misunderstood, please let me know.

It is no problem if the current process account has enough permissions
(read and write). However please also ensure that the .mdf file should be
from an earlier version of your current SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

For some known issues, you may refer to the section "Common issues" in this
article:
SQL Server 2005 Express Edition User Instances
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb264564.aspx

Did you encounter any issues when you use trusted connection after the
migration?

Best regards,
Charles Wang
