SQL 2000: VPN "Server Does Not Exist"

Hi,
I am trying to connect to one of our SQL boxes. When I'm in the office, on
the network, I have no problems either through Ent. Mgr. or Crystal Reports,
Visual Studio.NET, etc.

However, when I take my laptop home and connect to our network through VPN,
I get

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect().]SQL Server does not exist or
access denied.

on every type of connection (Ent. Mgr., etc., as mentioned above).

I am also unable to remote desktop directly into that server. I can,
however, remote into my desktop machine at the office, and use Enterprise
Manager or "loop through" to remote into the server through it.

What could be causing this issue. This is happening to myself, as well as
to the guy that created this database. Thanks in advance for any help you
can offer.
