No, I was actually referring to ODBC tracing that you find in the ODBC
Administrator at the O/S level. But, since I haven't used it since '99, I'm
not qualified to recommend it, or know if it will do what you need

Do you mean to use SQL Profiler to trace the activity? What events?
Thanks,

no...you were clear...I just didn't read closely enough.
I would suggest turning on ODBC tracing if I knew how to help review the
output...

I must not have been clear - SQL & the IIS application run on the same
server.

Occasionally we are getting the generic "SQL Server does not exist
or
access
denied" connection message. KB 328306 does an ok job describing the
situation, the problem we're having is that it doesn't occur with
each
connection. The IIS application runs on the same server as SQL does,
so
I
don't think any of the network related issues apply. The server is a
stand
alone server, so I don't think any of the domain related issues
apply
either.
The server is running W2k3 & SQL 2k.
We've written an ASP page to read records until it encounters a
problem.
The
record count varies every time - it can occur on the 1st read or the
3000
read.
Any de-bugging suggestions will be greatly appreciates.
Thanks,
.
