Re: SQL Server 2005 Evaluation - Analysis Services Connect OK / Database Engine Connect Not.

Try running through the brief connectivity tutorial in Books Online or at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345318.aspx The Surface Area Configuration is there, but also some other issues that might be blocking you.

Good evening,

I've been struggling with this for a few days. I was able to connect to both Analysis Services and the Database Engine of SQL Server 2005 when I first installed it. Just the other day, I started getting the error below. Now, I can't connect to my database engine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch and it's still not working. I know the evaluation period is not over.

* I searched around and saw a few entries about editing the Surface Area Configuration to allow remote connections. This is done.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
