RE: server does not exist or access denied

Hi,
Thanks for your post.

From your description, I understand that:
You couldn't access your SQL Server. Before this failure, you granted
access permission to another database with a new login/password. And you
were also unable to register the server.
If I have misunderstood, please let me know.

To narrow down this issue, I appreciate to know:
1. What's your SQL Server edition?
2. What's your SQL Server authentication mode? Windows Authentication or
Mixed mode?
3. Could you ping the SQL Server machine successfully?
4. Could you tell me more about your database environment and the operation
on assigning new
SQL login account to another database? Generally, adding a new login
account won't affect others.

For now, I recommend you that :
1. Check server network utility to make sure named pipes/tcpip is enabled.
2. Check client network utility on the client to make sure the alias of the
server is in the list. If not, you can add it.

If you have any other concerns, please feel free to let me know. It's my
pleasure to be of assistance.
