SQL Server 2k5 Local and Remote connections

I've installed SQL server 2k5 and all services on a WIN2k3 SR2 server as a
named instance (SQL2k5_01) (There is no default instance and this is a
brand new server), and while I was able to establish a local connection from
the management studio I needed to type in the instance name after it located
the server name. Still when I browse for connections either from the local
management studio or a remote, ONLY the server name is displayed.

Here's the problem; I can not connect from a remote management studio, even
when I type in the full server and instance name, this is the error message
that I get
"TITLE: Connect to Server

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
an error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When
connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that
under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.

When I follow the link for more info, WELL that MS web site tells me they
have no further info on that issue....

IS there anyone out there that can please help me out here?? IS SQL 2k5 as
good as they say or is it DOA???
