Login to SQL using AD account without logging into AD?

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Okay, this is probably a stupid question which I suspect I already know the
answer to, but....

Here's the situation: I work for a consulting company. Many of our users
don't log into the organization's AD domain; instead, they log directly into
the client's system. They all have AD accounts however, and their AD account
is used when logging into our IIS 6 web application server (using Basic
Authentication, so the users are always prompted for their username and
password).

Some users require access to our SQL Server machine. And herein lies my
problem. I would LIKE to use their AD account to control their access to SQL
Server, however, if they're not logged into AD, there is no way they can use
a "trusted connection" to connect. So, I am forced to create another account
(a SQL Server login) for them to log into SQL Server. (This is unlike using
IIS 6 which will prompt them for a username/password and I can use their AD
account).

So, my question is: Is there any way to use an AD account when logging into
SQL Server without being logged into the domain? I suspect the answer is
"No."

Thanks,
Andre
