Can I use Vs 2005 BI to build cubes in AS 2000

Can I use VS 2005 BI to build cubes in AS 2000.

Having problem to connect to the server. I have named instance of the
database server machinename\ss2000. The name of analysis server is <machine
name>. I am not able to connect to Analysis server.
