JDBC Connection count problem

I try to connect to a SQL server 2002 with the Microsoft JDBC sql server
driver SP3. When I create a connection, I see merere connections in the SQL
Server monitoring tool and each time I do a command with this connection, new
connections are created. Is this behavior normal?

Thanks in advance.
