Hello,
I use Linked Tables to connect to my SQL Server database
(S1). I backed up and restored the database on another
machine (offsite) and then tried to connect to this SQL
Server (S2).
When I startup I receive a server not found error and a
SQL Server Login box appears with the S1 server name. If
I click the drop down list a list of servers running SQL
Server appears, and I select S2.
If I leave the default Trusted Connection checked or if I
specify a login name and password, the same server not
found error message appears again and the dialog box
comes back up. Please note that the options button is
grayed out.
However, if I cancel the login box my linked tables
appear. If I use the link table manager and attempt to
refresh the linked tables, the dialog box appears again,
but now with the options button enabled. If I select
options, change the server name to S2, leave Trusted
connection selected and then select the database dropdown
list, a list of databases on S2 appears, including the
one I wish to link to.
The Linked table manager tells me that the table was
refreshed, but then when I try to browse the table, the
SQL Server Login box appears again.
Any idea why this occurs?
