You were good until the last sentence.
You cannot share resources, including disk resources, between instances. You get one instance per "Service or Application".
For a second instance, you will need new disks, a new network name, and a new IP address.

How do we add a new Named Instance under Services and Applications for the
existing SQL 2008 Cluster? We have the default MSSQLServer installed and
working OK.
We want to share the same data disk's for both Instances. Is this possible?
